Goal- Increase Successful Outcomes for Youth: Help high-risk youth achieve personal and social success while building safer communities.
State Juvenile Justice Systems currently report recidivism rates of 50-70%. Effective community based programs report recidivism rates at 20% and better. A well coordinated community based continuum of care including culturally competent individualized, intensive, family focused services can achieve good outcomes on behalf of youth and families with very complex needs.
The system of care established in each community must have the capability to measure outcomes and show what works and what does not work. Systems of accountability must be in place to help programs be successful and to adapt the continuum as needed to improve outcomes. The system of care should be dynamic; ever changing to adapt to needs and improve outcomes. Data and information can drive the system by looking at where outcomes fall short and to develop new ways of providing services and supports to achieve better outcomes.
